Do Hard Things

November 29, 2018 By Deanna 8 Comments

I participated in a #thankfulnesschallenge this month and wrote a post about gratitude being a state of mind. Furthermore, I challenged you to track the following in regards to doing hard things:

  1. How many times you wanted to give up
  2. The number of times you actually gave up
  3. The total number of difficult things you did

I participated too and will share what I learned about myself in this challenge. Moreover, I will share some changes I’m making in my processes at work as a result of my reflection on this challenge.

You Have an Audience

November 26, 2018 By Deanna 7 Comments

Today you get to read a truly awesome post from my friend, David. I’ve had the great pleasure of getting to know David over the last year. We first met at CampFI Mid-Atlantic in April and have stayed in touch via the internet in support of each other’s work.

We both launched our sites around the same time with interestingly similar names. 🙂

However, we have different missions but our common ground is financial independence.

David runs the stellar site, Fiology, which is designed to bring you a quality weekly lesson on financial independence. The lessons go for one year. I highly recommend enrolling!

Alright, enjoy this piece from David…

Gratitude for My Money Mentors

November 22, 2018 By Deanna 10 Comments

Happy Thanksgiving, all! This month I’ve participated in a thankfulness challenge with my friend Andrea from Saving Joyfully. The idea was to stay focused on gratitude and inspire others to do the same. In light of that challenge and the holiday at hand, I’m writing a tribute to the money mentors throughout my life.

Past & Present Money Mentors

I was a rebellious kid for many reasons and did not learn from their wise money ways until I was much older. However, once I gained some financial literacy I recognized my parents had always been doing the right things with their money.

Is Your Retirement OnTrajectory?

November 19, 2018 By Deanna 2 Comments

When I discovered the (FIRE) Financial Independence Retire Early community, I was motivated to finish my debt pay off journey so I could start maxing out my retirement accounts. I may be a late gamer but I’m good at intensity. I’m now maxing out my retirement accounts, living debt-free, and ratcheting up my savings rate.  I’ve done the calculations and I estimate that I can hit financial independence around 59 or 60.  However, factors in life change so when I was introduced to OnTrajectory Retirement calculator, I realized this was a tool that accounts for the dynamic factors of life.

About Me

My name is Deanna and I am happy to be on this redemptive path. I got sober from drug addiction/alcoholism in 2010 and returned to a faith in Christ. Additionally, I finished digging my way out of debt in 2017. Today, I’m learning to be a wise steward/investor of my resources while helping other women find their victories too. More about me.
