Making the Most of Our Career

February 28, 2019 By Deanna 3 Comments

I don’t know about you but my career is thriving and I expect it to only go up from here. I take it very seriously and want to not only grow myself professionally but also the company. This article is for anyone else who also wants to grow their career and needs some direction on where to focus. After all, focusing on our careers can be one of the highest paying investments.

I want to speak in general terms since there will probably be people of all different career backgrounds reading this.

Career Hacking

Firstly, I’d like to give a shout out to ESI Money as he is the first person I heard talk about the concept of career hacking. I’m sure there were others but I wasn’t quite ready to hear it until I was.

There is no shortage of career hacking articles on his site.

One of my favorites by ESI is titled, How to Manage Your Career and Make Millions. ESI gives 7 very helpful tips. When you are done with my article, I highly recommend you head over there and check it out.

The general concept of career hacking is to know what is expected of you, exceed it, document it, and report it. As important as tracking is to our financial health, it’s equally important to our income growth. You may be killing it in your career, but if you aren’t tracking it, it might go unrewarded. I’ll get to some tracking tips but first, let’s explore ways you can grow in your career.

For All the Middle Age Women Reinventing Themselves

February 25, 2019 By Deanna 13 Comments

I’m a 46-year old single woman and I have reinvented myself. If you’ve followed my story you know that I got sober at 36, and then finished paying my debt off by age 45. I’m now crushing it in my career and working towards financial independence.

It’s never too late to start again and this article is geared for all of those women who want to start over in their middle years.

What Not to Believe

I want to dispell some commonly believed lies that would prevent a middle-aged woman from reinventing themselves…

How to Hack a Ski Trip

February 21, 2019 By Deanna 7 Comments

I first learned to ski in middle school and then participated in ski club in high school. Additionally, I skied several times in my adult life but didn’t really pick it back up until about 6 years ago.

When I was in debt, I took a break deciding to focus most of my income on paying off my debt. However, now that I’m debt-free and saving for financial independence, I’ve decided to add this lovely hobby back into my budget. The goal for 2019 was to plan a trip out west and ski some powder and that is exactly what I did.

What Can Race Car Driving Teach us About our Finances?

February 18, 2019 By Deanna 4 Comments

I want to share some valuable financial takeaways from an unlikely source – a fiction book. Typically, I read non-fiction; however, I started incorporating some fiction into my life. Firstly, I joined a book club and they typically pick fiction…until it’s my turn to pick and, of course, I’ll choose non-fiction.

Additionally, I went on vacation last week to ski in Utah (post coming up on how I hacked that trip) and took a fiction book with me. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Furthermore, some of my takeaways can be applied to our financial lives.

About Me

My name is Deanna and I am happy to be on this redemptive path. I got sober from drug addiction/alcoholism in 2010 and returned to a faith in Christ. Additionally, I finished digging my way out of debt in 2017. Today, I’m learning to be a wise steward/investor of my resources while helping other women find their victories too. More about me.
