- Helping those impacted by addiction
With a website name, Recovering Women Wealth, it’s no secret I have a personal story of recovery from addiction. Furthermore, part of my life’s work is helping women in recovery and I’m supportive of anyone looking for recovery.
I’ve seen amazing and miraculous stories of recovery like with the son of my good friends, Fred and Cathy. Unfortunately, I’ve also seen (too many times I care to count) the heartbreak that can occur with addiction like the death of the son of my good friends, John and Liz.
Addiction is a scary reality and it seems that we all know someone impacted by it. Education, awareness, and Christ are the things that can break the chains of addiction.
Obviously, I’m passionate about recovery. That being said I’m writing this post to share how one can go about applying for this scholarship. If you know someone who might be interested please pass this along!!
Recovery Centers of America
Recovery Centers of America (RCA) announced that they are offering a $1,000 scholarship for the second year in a row. The scholarship will be awarded to one current or prospective student with plans to help those who are impacted by addiction. Here are the deets…
As I mentioned above this scholarship is for any currently enrolled student or for someone in the enrollment process. This must be with an accredited university, college or trade school within the United States.
The applicant needs to be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
Additionally, the applicant needs to be pursuing a degree and have a desire to help others who are struggling with addiction (key ingredient right there ♥).
One entry per person.
Lastly, RCA employees and their immediate families are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.
What Does the Application Process Include?
So this does involve writing an essay. I think that’s par for the course when applying for scholarships. Get your pens & papers or, more than likely, your keyboards and computers out and get tapping!
Your essay will need to be 750 – 1,000 words. That’s shorter than my typical blog post and if I can do that once a week, you can do it now!!
The topic of your essay needs to be centered around the following:
“It’s imperative for individuals and their families to have access to high-quality, affordable, and effective treatment programs in an environment that is comfortable and close to home. How are you planning to use your degree to aid those in recovery? How do you plan to help individuals and families impacted by the disease of addiction”
Taken directly from Recovery Centers of America website.

You have two options for applying. You can send your essay & biography information to email@example.com by December 31, 2019.
Or you can fill in the form on their website by December 31, 2019.
When and How will a Winner be Selected?
Judges will be scoring the essays on the following criteria:

The above criteria were taken directly from the RCA website.

Please, please, please pass this along to anyone you know who might be interested in this scholarship. College is expensive. A great hedge against student loan debt is applying for as many scholarships as you can get your hands on.
Unfortunately, there is no shortage of a need for people to assist in this area but together we can make an impact!
May the best man or woman win!!
