Why and How to Speak the Same Financial Language with Your Partnerships

December 30, 2019 By Deanna 27 Comments

So you may be asking why a single woman is writing a post about speaking the same financial language with your partner. I do have thoughts on this topic; however, I really want to learn more about it so I listen to the wisdom and experience of others. I’m pleased to offer you Good Nelly’s thoughts here. Good Nelly wrote a quality guest post for me in the past titled, The Debt Gender Gap and How to Reduce it Being a Woman. You are in for another treat with this post. Take it away, Nelly…

Frugal but Thoughtful Christmas Gift Ideas

December 16, 2019 By Deanna 8 Comments

I’m a fan of Christmas. After all, it’s the celebration of my Lord and Savoir. However, I’m not such a fan of the commercialization of Christmas. For me, it’s about worshipping God, being with family and loved ones, and giving thoughtful gifts.

The emphasis is on thoughtful because anyone can go to the store or click on a buy link on Amazon. Some people even go into debt to buy Christmas gifts for their loved ones. No shame because I used to be one of those folks. And if you do enjoy buying gifts and can afford it, go for it! It’s about what you value.

Although, now that I’ve paid off a bunch of debt and become a wise steward with my finances, I’ve thought long and hard about what Christmas means to me and now I practice it.

So I’ve compiled a list of thoughtful Christmas gifts that you can consider giving this year. Thoughtful doesn’t have to mean costly. A lot of these gifts involve your time which is a commodity around here. Last I checked we all have a finite amount of it so by incorporating it in our gift, it becomes special!

How I Fell In Love with Math – A Tribute to Mr. Lamp

December 9, 2019 By Deanna 4 Comments

Here’s where it all began – 8th grade! And, yes, I did see Bon Jovi in concert.

I have a fondness for mathematics. You see, I find comfort in the process of operating within a set of mathematical rules to find the solution to a problem. The laws never change and you can rely on them; however, there is often more than one way to the solution. And in that process lies the opportunity for creativity! It’s a marvelous subject of study.

Furthermore, solving mathematical problems trains your brain to become a problem solver in general. Life is full of problems so I say it’s way better to be a problem solver verses a complainer.

So, where did I develop this love of math? I’ve had many mentors in my life whom I believe were all placed there by God at just the right time. And that’s how the story of my love of math begins…with a mentor.

About Me

My name is Deanna and I am happy to be on this redemptive path. I got sober from drug addiction/alcoholism in 2010 and returned to a faith in Christ. Additionally, I finished digging my way out of debt in 2017. Today, I’m learning to be a wise steward/investor of my resources while helping other women find their victories too. More about me.
