Transformation Begins with Tenacity

December 2, 2019 By Deanna 2 Comments

I first wrote this as a guest post at the personal finance blog, Thrifty Enough, which no longer exists. I’ve reached out to the former owner of that site as well as the new owners of the spinoff site, The Money Mix. I have everyone’s permission to republish this article since it was no longer live on any site.

This post starts with a woman’s story of recovery and so I’m listing this as my third article in my series, titled Inspiring Women in Recovery.

That being said, I’m making some edits with how my thinking has evolved.

ChooseFI – The Ultimate Book in Planning for Financial Independence

October 7, 2019 By Deanna 1 Comment

Today’s blog post is a book review for one I highly recommend. Dave Ramsey got me thinking about investing. However, the ChooseFI Radio podcast got me realizing how I could actually start investing. To say it had a monumental impact on my life is not a hyperbole. Moreover, I might not have had the courage to start this blog had it not been for the ChooseFI podcast.

50% Savings, 40% Spending, 10% Giving

September 9, 2019 By Deanna 5 Comments

Three is wonderful number. I do three basic things with my money – save, spend, give. I automatically save about 50% of my money that comes in. Additionally, I spend about 40% of my money on good ole living. Furthermore, I donate 10% of my money.

If this seems impossible to you, stay with me because it seemed impossible to me several years ago. I want to give you hope to know that with some focus and a plan, you can get to a better place with your money.

I’m Speaking at FinCon Today!

September 5, 2019 By Deanna 12 Comments

I decided to release a special little post today since I will be speaking at FinCon on a panel. It’s rather exciting and quite an honor. I apologize I didn’t announce it sooner. However, I do have one small request from my readers. If you are a praying person will you pray for me today?

Back in the winter, I collaborated with another blogger, Refined By FIRE, about applying to speak on a panel this year at FinCon. Fairly quickly we came up with the topic of, Overcoming Adversity on the Path Towards Financial Independence as we both have had some serious adversity in our lives.

Also fairly quickly I knew who should moderate this panel, Fred from Money With a Purpose, as he has an awesome series on his site titled, Overcoming Adversity. I was interviewed in his series a year ago and then I interviewed Fred & his wife Cathy on my blog as parents of a son with an Addiction.

About Me

My name is Deanna and I am happy to be on this redemptive path. I got sober from drug addiction/alcoholism in 2010 and returned to a faith in Christ. Additionally, I finished digging my way out of debt in 2017. Today, I’m learning to be a wise steward/investor of my resources while helping other women find their victories too. More about me.
