As a woman in recovery, I see people all of the time who want to change, surrender, start a new way of life. Unfortunately, most are not willing to do what it takes to make such a big change. Most people are looking for a quick fix and as we all learn from being alive long enough there rarely are quick fixes in life.

However, if we are willing to play the long game, there are fixes.

The good news is that change is possible! Old dogs can be taught new tricks.

My Biggest Lesson in 2020, We Need One Another!

Happy New Year y’all! We made it through 2020 and are ready to start a new year. Sometimes the best thing about seasons is that they end. That can also be true for years like this.

The Bible tells us…

To everything, there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven:

A time to be born,
And a time to die;
A time to plant,
And a time to pluck what is planted;
A time to kill,
And a time to heal;
A time to break down,
And a time to build up;
A time to weep,
And a time to laugh;
A time to mourn,
And a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones,
And a time to gather stones;
A time to embrace,
And a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to gain,
And a time to lose;
A time to keep,
And a time to throw away;
A time to tear,
And a time to sew;
A time to keep silence,
And a time to speak;
A time to love,
And a time to hate;
A time of war,
And a time of peace.

Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8

This past year was historical, challenging, a bit scary, divisive politically, and riddled with caution. However, as I’m reflecting back on it, there is much we be grateful for. Moreover, there is much we can learn from it as we move into a new year.

Expanding our Beliefs with Goal Setting

Hello Everyone, thanks for hanging with me as I know I’ve been absent from blogging for the last several weeks! Life has been busy between my budding love relationship and my busy work fourth-quarter season.

However, I’m excited to be writing a new article!

Also, here’s a head’s up that  I’m switching my weekly publishing day to Saturdays. I somehow think this will help me with my schedule. Additionally, Saturday mornings are a good day to sit back, drink a cup of coffee, and read a blog post. Please give me your feedback if you concur or disagree. 😉

Today, I want to challenge us all in our beliefs about what we can accomplish which starts with setting our goals…

Developing Resilience for Mental Wealth & Money Management, part 2

October 19, 2020 By Deanna 5 Comments

Last week, I wrote part 1 of this post which had to do more with the money side of things. In learning to have mental wealth as well as managing money well, an emergency fund is a solid foundation.

I described how to calculate a monthly emergency amount which enables you to use any number of months as the multiplier. Creating a hedge against any number of life’s emergencies is a way of playing offense rather than defense.

It also will allow you to have more resiliency to bounce back from any potential setback.

However, the second part of developing resiliency is the mental aspect.

About Me

My name is Deanna and I am happy to be on this redemptive path. I got sober from drug addiction/alcoholism in 2010 and returned to a faith in Christ. Additionally, I finished digging my way out of debt in 2017. Today, I’m learning to be a wise steward/investor of my resources while helping other women find their victories too. More about me.
